| Ordering
from our web catalogue can be done by any of our customers
once they have registered. Registration simply requires
providing a few details, including your Fisher Scientific
account number and can be completed in a few minutes. Once
you have sent your details and chosen your password, a username
will be emailed to you. Logging on with this username and
your password will give you access to all the features of
the web catalogue, and you are ready to start ordering.
To make your ordering
over the web as simple as possible, the web catalogue
contains the following features that are standard to
all users:
- the prices
you will see in the web catalogue are the prices you
will pay, having taken account of discount terms and
special prices.
-
when you log onto the catalogue, the stock levels
displayed are fed directly from our mainframe computer,
in real time.
- powerful
search engines allow you to search the catalogue by
product code, other supplier's product code, CAS number,
keyword, chemical name, chemical structure, manufacturer
or brand.
- this allows
you to select items at any time, for processing as
an order later. Items are held in the shopping basket
until you place and order, or remove them. Once in
the shopping basket, quantities can be increased or
decreased, products added or removed.
- these can be compiled to contain your most frequently
ordered items. Products can be added to the hotlist
from the catalogue, or removed. Hotlists can be used
to quickly fill your shopping baskets without having
to search the catalogue. You can set up as many hotlists,
with your chosen names as you wish.
- for repeatedly placed orders,
you can save a shopping basket as a template which
can then be recalled and placed as an order, without
you having to individually select the items.
- this feature
is for a fast order entry where you know the Fisher
Scientific part number of the item you require. The
screen allows an order entry of up to 5 items to be
entered with quantities, and when complete can be
added to the shopping basket without searching for
the individual products.
- this section
allows you to view up to four years of orders, regardless
whether ordered electronically or by traditional methods.
This section can be searched using a combination of
parameters, and has three different display options.
You can look at the status of orders placed but not
yet delivered, future orders, expected delivery dates,
shipped orders, backorders and credits.
- this contains
a list of products at discounted prices due to the
items having marks or superficial damage or packaging
that is non-standard or dirty.
In addition we have a
number of features that can be set up on your web profile
by request. These include:
-
this gives you the facility to source products that
do not appear in our web catalogue.
- your account can be
set up with requisitioning tiers which allows
end users to compile an order which can then go through
an authorisation process before being placed with
Fisher Scientific. This is available to the 'nth'
tier, allowing administration control and ability
to configure own user set up.
- your account
can be configured with spend limits to allow control
over purchasing. An order that supersedes these limits
will not be accepted. If using a requisitioning system,
an order superseding a spend limit will be sent back
for authorisation.
- your
account can be set up with a flag which allows you
to differentiate orders that are VAT payable and VAT
exempt. This is particularly useful for our University
and Government body customers.

As soon as you are registered
on iNSiGHT, our web catalogue, you are able to start
ordering. However, we recognise that implementing a
site wide electronic ordering programme can be complicated.
Your account manager and our e-commerce specialists
are available to help you get started. You may wish
to start with a pilot, before roll out across departments
or sites. In all cases, our staff are available to advise.
