Fisher Scientific’s Science World returns to Wembley Stadium in 2012 for a very special celebration. To commemorate the 21st Science World exhibition, we interviewed Emily Quinton, Marketing Promotions Manager, who has been involved with Science World since the first show in 1998.
Tell us a little bit about your background. When did you start working for Fisher Scientific?
I joined the company back in 1992 as Product Communications Manager which was heavily involved in ensuring consistency throughout our catalogue series, managing the proofing process and cross checking copy with suppliers and product managers. In those days the process was very heavily paper based with A3 job bags full of marked up catalogue pages – we even had to cut out and stick on the product images! When I had my first child I came back to work part time, working from home, and my job changed to ‘Communications Manager’ which meant responsibility for our PR programme – writing press release and feature articles for trade and local press, editing our company newsletters (Connections, Centrespread (Griffin), our internal newsletter + a supplier publication) + providing events support. I left the company to live in Canada between 2002 – 2007, and returned in 2007 as Promotions and Events Manager. I was promoted to Marketing Promotions Manager in 2009 – and now have responsibility for Events/exhibitions, PR, Web site, and Social Media. Read the rest of this entry »
