Professor David Bellamy look’s at the world in a different way!

June 10th, 2010

Science World 2010 – The Fisher Scientific Laboratory Experience, held at Wembley Stadium the Venue of Legends on 15th April 2010, was an amazing success. Visitors left the event with many special memories, including a tour of the stadium and presentations from Lord Professor Winston and Professor David Bellamy – two of the country’s most eminent figures within the scientific community.

David Bellamy, due to speak in the afternoon, arrived early at 9.45 a.m., eager to take in the exhibition, chat with visitors and pose for photographs. He spent significant time visiting exhibition stands, showing a genuine interest in how far laboratory equipment technology has advanced over the years.

One stand he spent time on was Bollé Safety, manufacturers of stylish, comfortable safety glasses meeting customer demand for user compliance with health and safety standards in the workplace. David spent 15 minutes on the stand modelling several pairs of the safety glasses. After the visit ended, Gary Goodall, Regional Sales Manager (East) for Bollé, commented on &lsquote; What a charming, down-to-earth and intelligent man David is&rsquote;.

David Bellamy clearly enjoyed his time on the Bollé stand, remarking that he never realised there were so many different safety spectacles available. He commented that he was going on a family holiday soon (possibly taking in some mountains in France) so he was most appreciative of the tinted Safety eyeshields Bollé kindly gave to him.

Science World 2010 Attracts 800 visitors!

April 23rd, 2010

LOUGHBOROUGH, Leicestershire, UK (April 22, 2010) – Fisher Scientific, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., today announced that Science World – The Fisher Scientific Laboratory Experience was its most successful laboratory show ever. The 19th Science World, considered by many to be the UK’s premier lab show, attracted a record 800 attendees this year, which took place at Wembley Stadium 15th April 2010.

Show attendees visited more than 75 world-leading laboratory product manufacturers and suppliers in a relaxed and informal environment.  Wembley Stadium – the Venue of Legends was a great setting for the show, and many attendees took advantage of the free tours of the stadium.

Lord Professor Robert Winston presented a seminar entitled “Trusting Technology“, which asked the provocative question: Are there technological solutions to the problems that increasingly powerful technology is causing?  In another session, Professor David Bellamy gave the audience plenty of food for thought by questioning whether global warming is man-made or instead another cycle in the natural history of our planet.

Dr. Hal Sosabowski, always a popular attraction at Science World, entertained visitors with his “Elemental Spectacular” demonstrations, proving that science is not only interesting, but also great fun.

Very well laid out, very interesting and a great opportunity to meet new suppliers“, said one of the record number of attendees as they left the show. Encouraged by record attendance and positive reactions by patrons, Fisher Scientific already anticipates a strong showing for next year’s show, its 20th event.
