A. The
connection between your computer and the computer where
the web pages are stored has many different physical elements.
All of these elements contribute to the overall speed
you see pages on your browser, some are listed below.
Your
computer processor speed
Your
computer modem or network connection speed
Your
telephone line type and distance from an exchange
The
browser you are using, e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape
etc
The
speed the pages are delivered
Other factors that affect the speed
are more traffic related and can cause parts, or the entire
web to be slow e.g.
Time
of day, once America is awake the web speed can slow.
Popularity
of the site, the recent release of the UK 1901 census
has resulted in unprecedented demands on the delivering
site, and the web.
As you can see many factors can affect
the speed you see pages. We have designed the site to
be as fast as possible and have tested the site on different
computers with different browsers to try and identify
any problems and maximize speed.
If you find our web site pages slow
to load we can try and help, but need a few vital pieces
of information.
