Keith Pauling walking the 290-mile Macmillan Way for charityNothing beats a good walk in the English countryside, but as the hottest weekend of the year (so far!) drew to a close recently, you’d forgive one Fisher Scientific employee for enjoying a well-earned sit down.

Sunday was day twenty of Account Manager Keith Pauling’s 290 mile walk along the Macmillan Way, which has seen him take in all manner of sights as he made his way from Boston, Lincolnshire to Chesil Beach, Dorset.

This gruelling challenge was undertaken by Keith in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity, which offers support for those affected by cancer.

Covering an average of 14.5 miles per day on foot, Keith was faced with everything the typical English May climate has to offer – wind, rain, sleet, and even the occasional spell of sunshine, as he traversed bogs and tackled the hilly southern terrain.

Neither the typically temperamental weather, nor numerous navigational problems, or even the disappointment of his beloved Luton Town falling at the last hurdle in the Conference Playoff Final could dampen Keith’s spirit as he completed his unenviable task.

So far Keith has raised a whopping  £2,500 and rising…Donations can still be made on www.justgiving.com/macway

You can follow the inspiring story from the beginning on Keith’s blog at http://www.macway290.blogspot.co.uk, where he posted his thoughts at the end of each day.
