Last weekend, families up and down the country threw street parties to honour the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations – and Fisher Scientific was no exception.
On Friday 1st June, staff gathered in the car park – converted for one day only into a carnival of red, white and blue – for a free celebratory barbecue.

JCC members Tina Siena and Nicki Berrisford helped organise the event, which raised money for Alzheimer's.
As well as offering complementary grub to employees, Fisher Scientific brought in a whole host of games and stalls, while staff also put themselves to the test in a cake competition with delicious results.
The day was organised by members of the Joint Consultative Committee, and committee member Nicki Berrisford said:
“The Diamond Jubilee was a great occasion to throw a Car Park Party, to celebrate 60 years on the throne for the Queen of our country.
“A fantastic achievement by anyone’s standards, and also a great opportunity to bring everyone together.”
In addition to celebrating the Jubilee, the party also raised money for the Alzheimer’s charity, a cause close to many employees’ hearts. Donations were taken throughout the day, and slices of the prizewinning cakes were sold with all proceeds going to the worthy cause.
The event raised a tremendous £269 and counting, while the well-fed Fisher Scientific staff saw in the bank holiday weekend in festive mood.
The winners of the cake competition were:
1st Prize – Tina Siena (£25 Gift Voucher)
2nd Prize – Denise Allen (£15 Gift Voucher)
3rd Prize – Joint winners – Jay Attenborough and Andy Edwards (£10 each)
