Fowl Play at Fisher Scientific..?

Mother duck and her brood of ducklings What an eventful couple of weeks it’s been for the newest arrivals at Fisher Scientific Loughborough!

Two families of ducks made the enclosed garden space their new home, with over twenty ducklings spotted by keen eyed colleagues. The hitherto unseen daddy ducks even made a brief appearance, coincidentally just in time for a spot of breakfast.

However, at the start of their second week in residence, staff at the Loughborough office were mystified to find a significantly decreased number of ducklings.

With no sign of a struggle, and nothing untoward reported by the weekend security staff, the mystery of the disappearing ducklings looks like it will remain forever unsolved, although scenes of the two mothers scrapping before one took flight have aroused suspicions that family rivalry may have come to a head over the weekend.

There are now 9 very happy and healthy ducklings enjoying the life of luxury, while forays into the garden are strictly restricted to those on feeding duties – at the risk of the wrath of one bad mother duck!

Having been here for two weeks now, their in-duck-tion may be complete, but the well ‘ard mallard remains protective and vigilant as her young continue to adapt to life at Fisher Scientific.

Our fluffy friends have been provided with a luxurious paddling pool courtesy of a generous staff member.

Meanwhile, several colleagues have been amazed at just how quickly the ducklings are growing, and have pooled together to create a duck fund which will guarantee they have everything they need to grow up big and strong and ready to tackle the wild world outside of Fisher Scientific.
