We have been really excited by your response to our ‘Best Invention Ever‘ facebook competition.

We are creeping ever closer to a whopping 300 ‘likes’ and have been impressed with all the comments and suggestions that you have posted. The wheel, penicillin, chocolate and the mobile phone were just some of your suggestions for the best invention.  Well done and thank you to everyone who has taken part.

The winner - Ruth Parry - with her brand new iPod touch

As you may know, we had a brand new iPod touch up for grabs for our Best Invention competition winner.  We can now formally announce that the lucky winner is Ruth Parry.  Congratulations!!!

Ruth works in the Blood Borne Viruses Unit at HPA Microbiology Services and told us –

I enjoyed reading the ‘best invention ever’ suggestions; some of them were predictable, some were quite surprising.

I was very surprised to hear that my name had come up in the prize draw because I never win anything! The iPod touch is a great piece of equipment and I will thoroughly enjoy using it.

You can still join in the conversation over on facebook.

And who knows, there may even be another iPod-tastic competition coming your way very soon…
