SNAP i.d.

Unlike conventional western blotting, where diffusion is the primary means of reagent transport, the SNAP i.d. system applies a vacuum to actively drive reagents through the membrane.

This novel method allows you to optimise your blotting conditions in record time for maximum results. In addition, more effective wash steps remove unwanted contaminants from the membrane.

"In this experiment I had performed immunoprecipitations from cells expressing two different GFP-fusion proteins using an anti-GFP antibody linked to sepharose. I used western blotting to analyse my input, flowthrough and bound-protein samples from experiments which had been carried out with either cytoplasmic or nuclear extracts.

I took advantage of a demonstration of the SNAP i.d. system that Millipore were conducting at my workplace, and compared the results obtained using the SNAP i.d. to process one blot to those obtained using my standard procedure with a separate but near identical blot. I was amazed to find that I could complete the process in only half an hour using the SNAP i.d and furthermore that the bands were more intense with less background for the same exposure time, and so will be purchasing a SNAP i.d system in the near future."
